How to use Voice Mail
Voice Mail is an easy-to-use answering service that offers many benefits:
- You'll get messages while you're away from home, on a call, or on Dial-up Internet. Voice Mail will even take multiple messages at the same time. (Answering machines can't take messages while your line is busy.)
- Use Voice Mail instead of an answering machine and you'll never replace, reprogram or lose messages because of lightning or power outages.
- You can also check your messages or change your greeting from any other touchtone phone by dialing 877-4000 or 756-4000.
- You can order a separate mailbox for each family member.
- You can even have Voice Mail send your pager an alert with each new incoming message.
How to check your messages (see below for detailed information for the set-up of your greeting, password, and recorded name):
- Dial *98 (or 877-4000 or 756-9000 if calling from another number).
- Enter your password.
- Press 7 to Play your Messages.
- 1st Message will Play.
- Press 7 to Replay the Message.
- Press 3 to Delete the Message.
- Press 5 to Save the Message.
- Press 9 to Return to the Previous Menu.
- Press 4 to Forward the Message to Another Mailbox.
- Press 0 for More Options
At any time while listening to each message, you have the following options to rewind, pause and fast-forward your message:
- Press * to Rewind the Message
- Press 8 to Pause the Message
- Press # to Fast-Forward the Message
When dialing *98, 877-4000 or 756-9000, the following options are also available:
- Press 8 for Personal Options (you may set-up or change your greeting, passcode or recorded name by selecting this option).
- Press 4 To Access Another Mailbox.
- Press 6 for Messaging Options.
- Press 9 To Exit.
If you are a new Voice Mail customer accessing the system for the 1st time:
How to set-up your greeting, password, and recorded name:
Your recorded name is just that - your name, family name or department name for your mailbox (e.g. "Rhonda" or "The Smiths"). This is a neat feature that will allow Coastal Voice Mail customers to hear your name announcement when you leave them a message. For example, they'll hear: "Message from Rhonda." Or "Message from The Smiths".
If you do not wish to use the recorded name feature, when prompted to record your name simply press the pound (#) sign.
- Dial *98 and you will access the initial Set-up Wizard.
- Enter your temporary passcode 2389.
- Then simply follow the prompts to set-up your greeting, password and recorded name (if desired).
To change your passcode and greeting at any time:
How to set-up or change your passcode:
- Dial *98. Or dial 877-4000 or 756-4000 if calling from another number.
- When prompted, enter your passcode followed by the # sign. (If you're calling from another number, you'll be first prompted to enter your mailbox - your 7-digit phone number.)
- Press 8 to access Personal Options.
- Press 7 to Change your Passcode.
- When prompted, enter a new 4 to 8 digit passcode of your choice followed by the # sign. The system will ask you to re-enter your new passcode followed by the # sign. You have now established your new passcode.
How to set-up or change your greeting:
- Dial *98. Or dial 877-4000 or 756-4000 if calling from another number.
- When prompted, enter your passcode followed by the # sign. If you're calling from another number, you'll be first prompted to enter your mailbox (your 7-digit phone number).
- Press 8 to access Personal Options.
- Press 4 to Change your Greeting.
- Press 1 to Record a Greeting. Press # when finished.
- Press 2 to review your greeting. If satisfied with your greeting, simply hang up or press * to return to the Personal Options menu. If you'd like to re-record your greeting, press 1 to Record a Greeting and repeat the process.
How to record your name:
